Two fracked gas power plants were planned for construction within one mile of each other in Charles City County; but, one of these power plants, the C4GT, has officially been cancelled! Due to the hard work and advocacy from community members, such as the group, Concerned Citizens of Charles City County, the power plant developer has stated the project is no longer happening.  

However, the remaining power plant proposal for Chickahominy Power is still an active threat and would be larger than any of the natural gas plants operated by Dominion Energy, Virginia’s largest electric utility. Additionally, a company called Chickahominy Pipeline has recently sent letters to Charles City residents, stating their plan to build a gas pipeline through the city. Thus, as we celebrate this win, we must remember that our fight for environmental justice continues!
