Challenge for Green Futures Mini-Grants
The 2020 elections could not be more significant. The outcome will set the course on climate justice for years to come. Right now, we are in the midst of a global pandemic, a major economic crisis, record joblessness, and our nation is in turmoil over police killings that have exposed the deep inequities and racial injustice in our nation.
Virginia Interfaith Power & Light (VAIPL) is launching a new program centered on civic engagement. We invite you and your faith community to participate in the VAIPL Challenge for Green Futures Challenge!
This new challenge encourages your faith community to vote with the environment in mind and motivate your network to do the same. Take action and join the VAIPL Challenge for Green Futures!
Your congregation can earn a mini-grant of up to $500! VAIPL will award mini-grants to churches, synagogues, mosques, and faith communities with the most participants when the program ends in Spring 2021.
These grants can be used to make your communities more sustainable by lowering your carbon footprint. For example: energy efficiency audits, organizing a green team, developing a vegetable garden, installing rain gardens, and/or transitioning to renewables.
The challenge begins August 3rd, 2020, and ends November 3rd, election day, 2020. Grants will be awarded in Spring 2021. We are delighted to share how you can take action with us and join the VAIPL Challenge for Green Futures!
