It’s Time To Act: Climate in the Pulpits, on the Bimah & in the Minbar 2022

This year, Climate in the Pulpits, in the Minbar, & on the Bimah will begin and endure through the fall from September 1st – November 30th. The Theme for this year is It’s Time to Act! Climate scientists have made clear the urgency to act on climate now. Our window to prevent worldwide irreversible damage is swiftly closing. This is our kairos moment. It is the right time, and as people of faith, it is our time to prioritize our tradition’s religious teachings to care for the earth and our neighbors. Register for Virginia Climate in the Pulpits, in the Minbar, & on the Bimah 2022!

We are delighted to invite faith communities across the commonwealth to participate in Climate in the Pulpits / in the Minbar / on the Bimah 2022! The goal of Climate in the Pulpits/ in the Minbar/ on the Bimah is to encourage faith communities to preach, teach, and act to elevate the importance of being good stewards with and for our neighbors in Creation. We encourage members to combine prayer and action now because we recognize that our actions today have lasting impacts for generations to come.

We are inviting pastors, rabbis, imams, and all faith and spiritual leaders to schedule worship services, sermons, lessons, and/or a day(s) of action to address Creation care, climate, and environmental justice, and the urgency to act now for the health and welfare of future generations.

First-time participants? No worries, VAIPL will be scheduling opportunities to learn more, offer help with planning events, and we will share resources to help you prepare! Please keep watch for more information soon, and if you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us at contactus@vaipl.org.
