Sr. Phyllis Cox

Sr. Phyllis is overjoyed to return to the VAIPL staff in her new role as Faith Community Outreach Coordinator. Having a BA in Environmental Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne College, she felt called to a more active role in environmental advocacy. She graduated from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary with a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry in 2021 after serving VAIPL as an intern. She was called to work with VAIPL working with staff members on their project areas. After more than a year of spiritual direction, Sr. Phyllis was received into the Deaconess Community of the ELCA. She moved on to study with Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and received a certificate in Climate Justice.
