Glenn A. Pannell

I was born at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and raised in the DMV area before settling in Richmond at the age of 8. After completing my education at Hermitage High School and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, I began my career in the mental health field, focusing on children diagnosed with autism. This experience sparked my passion for therapeutic support and for making a lasting impact on young lives.

As a dedicated member of Third Street Bethel A. M. E. Church, [one of Virginia’s first all-Black congregations], I have always been deeply committed to community service and social justice. This dedication led me to connect with Virginia Interfaith Power & Light (VAIPL), where I now serve as an Outreach Organizer for the Cool the City campaign. In this role, I will lead VAIPL’s efforts to increase tree canopy within Richmond’s North Side and East End neighborhoods.

By combining my passion for environmental sustainability with my background in mental health, I am committed to creating healthier, more vibrant urban communities. Increased access to green spaces not only enhances the environment but also provides peace of mind and mental clarity for residents, helping to foster stronger, more connected communities in Richmond.
