This year, Earth Month intersects with an important week for many faith traditions: Ramadan, Holy Week, Passover, and Easter. Other holy days in April this year include the Sikhs’ and Hindus’ Vaisakhi, the Jains’ Mahavir Jayanti, the Baha’i festival of Ridvan, and the Theravada Buddhist New Year. We wish you blessed days of observance!
April marks the start of a month meant to demonstrate our love for the Earth and reflect on our place within it. Earth month highlights our connections and responsibility to the Earth and our neighbors. This Earth Month, may we recognize the Earth and all its gifts, and answer the call to be good stewards of our common home.
We look forward to your continued help to advance climate and environmental justice in our state by taking action with us during Earth Month! Celebrate Earth Day with VAIPL! Faith Climate Action Week 2023 (April 14 – 23)
Faith Climate Action Week is ten days in April during Earth Month when IPL congregations focus on how we can all take action to protect our climate. The theme of 2023’s Faith Climate Action Week is “Living the Golden Rule: Just Transition to a Clean Energy Economy.” We’ll examine our responsibility to transition to energy sources that safeguard our common home and how our faiths call us to respond with just solutions for all. Faith Climate Action Week is ten days starting April 14 – 23, 2023.
Join Interfaith Power & Light’s annual premiere week of worship and action focused on climate
Share the exciting news of the transition to clean energy with your congregation with a series of short films called Current Revolution, that show the possibility of a just transition to a clean energy economy where the well-being of workers and frontline community members are prioritized.
There is also an opportunity to encourage Toyota to join other car makers in supporting clean cars using the enclosed postcards, in addition to an online advocacy petition starting in March.
In the kit:

- Golden Rule Guide – learn about the principles of a Just Transition, and how it aligns with our religious values and suggestions for action
- Golden Rule multi-faith poster to discuss the connection between our values and our role in a just transition
- Clean car advocacy postcards and a pre-addressed envelope for mailing to IPL
- Climate change fact sheet, updated for 2023
- Get involved sign-up sheet to invite members of your congregation to join the movement for climate justice
