Elections are a referendum on the policies, laws, budgets, and the values that will shape the future. This is an extremely difficult time in the U.S. Many feel their voices have been silenced; we are watching citizens and non-citizens treated with profound disrespect and violence. Tensions are high across the globe due to the war with Iran, trade wars, and the exchange of tariffs. Many Americans are concerned about the threat of losing well-won freedoms like voting rights. Climate change impacts are occurring daily across the world: extreme flooding events, months-long wildfires, record tornadoes, and extreme temperatures.
We believe that as governments care for people by protecting their health, we will at the same time heal the planet because what is good for human health is also good for our planet. We invite you to join us in prioritizing the health of people and planet as you cast your ballot this November 3, 2026.
Join VAIPL and Rev. Dr. Keith Jones for a virtual dialogue this election season as we reflect on key issues facing our families and communities. Read Rev. Dr. Jones’s bio here.
Over the past two years, we have learned how fragile our Democracy can be. How do we protect our freedoms? How do we honor the human dignity and value of every person, immigrants, citizens, returning citizens, women, and those struggling to pay for healthcare and rising prices for necessities? Given our mutual interdependence, how might our faith or spiritual practices call us to live in the world? What laws and policies will prioritize the common good and confront future crises in equitable and just ways? How do U.S. tax laws and Congressional budgets reflect our values as people of good conscience?
