A Reality Check during Earth Month from the Lastest IPCC Report

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a new report this week, and one thing is certain: It’s Time to Act! This report has made it clear we need to take extreme measures to avoid climate disaster. The new IPCC report also emphasized that for a livable future, we have to halve emissions and limit global warming to 1.5°C right now. This report comes at the beginning of April, a special time for recognizing the needs of the natural world: Earth Month.

The month of April is a time when we demonstrate our love for the Earth, and reflect on our place within it. Earth month highlights our connections and responsibility to the Earth and our neighbors. This Earth Month, may we recognize the Earth and all its gifts, and answer the call to be good stewards of our common home. For the good of all our neighbors, now is not the time to increase fossil fuel production, cut gas taxes, or build new gas and oil infrastructure. It is the time to increase production of renewable alternatives, like offshore wind. We have all the tools we need to reduce our carbon footprint.
